Description of Services
Prenatal Massage Therapy
So many aches, pains, and health conditions may present themselves during pregnancy. Our massage therapists are trained and experienced to address your needs in all three trimesters (and postpartum – see below). One of the most obvious considerations during pregnancy is the need to accommodate your growing belly, which requires special positioning so you feel safe and comfortable while receiving a massage.
We offer two choices: orthopedic body support cushions (bodyCushion brand) on a standard massage table, which allow you to rest face down, comfortably, with no pressure on your belly or breasts, throughout your entire pregnancy. It’s heavenly! Or if you prefer, you may receive a massage while lying on your side, using bodyCushions to relieve pressure on your hips and shoulders.
Can Massage Promote the Onset of Labor?
For healthy women in week 39 or whose estimated due dates have passed, massage therapy and acupressure may help stimulate labor naturally and prepare your body for birth. No, there is no “magic button” that will put you in labor, but relaxation, stress relief, and focused attention can help move your body in the direction it’s already going. If you are really serious about avoiding pharmacological induction, you should plan on doing sessions for several days in a row. Daily sessions are discounted – only $58 each. Please call us to discuss details.
Can I Have a Massage During Labor? YES!
Early labor can sometimes last many hours, even days, as your body is preparing for birth. Massage during early labor can help you stay relaxed and rested, thereby allowing labor to progress.
Massage during active labor can provide focused pain relief and emotional support as your body is preparing to give birth. Two of our staff members are also trained labor doulas that can be hired to attend your birth.
Birth can be long and exhausting for you and your spouse/birth partner. A pair of trained, skilled hands can really make a difference for everyone involved!
Postpartum Massage Therapy
Massage during the postpartum recovery period can help the mother regain her pre-pregnant shape, adjust to the changes in her body, ease neck pain from breastfeeding, provide rest when she’s sleep-deprived, support the organs moving back into place, and help her body regain its alignment and balance. It’s every bit as important to have regular massage therapy after giving birth as it is during pregnancy!
BABYSITTER PROVIDED! No leaving the baby behind! Just for new moms…for only $10 additional per hour, we provide an extra pair of loving hands to hold and rock your baby while you receive a massage. “Grandma Carla” can’t wait to meet you and your baby!
What if I’m Not Pregnant? And what about massage for Dads/Partners?
Yes, while pregnancy is our specialty, we also do just good ol’ massage for anyone else in the family.
Dads/partners experience the stresses of pregnancy, birth, and recovery in their own way. They need a little relief too.
We offer pediatric massage, fertility massage, and massage for the whole family.
