“Our baby Cylus was welcomed by a team of strong, confident women, a loving papa, and very excited mother.  Marci and her birth team kept me feeling safe and strong throughout my birthing experience. We moved through the night, keeping things flexible and fluid. When I entered the water, I looked to Marci for reassurance and affirmation. She was there, with her women reminding me of how capable my body was. Marci was a constant reminder that with each passing moment, I was one step closer to holding a perfect baby in my arms. My husband also felt welcome and a part of the circle created by the women of Brickyard Birth. The space held by Marci and her team was unforgettable. I felt free to be myself, to never hold back, and communicate exactly what I needed. I am so grateful to have been given an opportunity to birth my precious baby at home where I recovered fast, knew my way around, and nested during those important first few hours. My partner and the women of Brickyard Birth welcomed a place in me I didn’t know existed. A place where a woman can do anything she sets her mind to, a place where a woman can have exactly the birth she’s imagined. So much love and gratitude”

Kristi Ridd-Young – Midwives College of Utah

801-763-7338 contact@thenurturingplace.comAnyone who knows Kristi Ridd-Young would say that one of her passions in life is helping others have freedom of choice based on the understanding of all available alternatives. Since beginning her perinatal education career over 25 years ago, Kristi nurtures the innate strength and courage that lies within every individual throughout every stage of life. Instead of giving knowledge to you, she helps you find it within yourself. Kristi has a degree in public health administration, previously practiced as a midwife, is a certified childbirth educator and DONA-approved birth doula trainer. She is currently the president of the Midwives College of Utah and an adjunct professor at Salt Lake Community College
Kristi has been mentored by many of the leading experts in the field of midwifery, but, most of all, she credits her own experience as a mother of six children, seven stepchildren and eleven grandchildren for much of the life-wisdom and knowledge she shares

The Nurturing Place is an appropriate name for her personal business which has educated more than 600 couples and over 700 doulas since its inception. She recently taught the first ever doula training in Kuwait. Several years ago, Kristi created a line of natural body care products at www.thebodybliss.com. The Belly Bliss products were developed especially with midwives and moms in mind. In her spare time (which is more sparse than it should be), she loves to read, practice yoga, hang out with her children who are great adult friends, and see the beauty of the world’s most curvy roads on a Harley

Kristi’s philosophy can best be summed up in her own words, “I am passionate about birth and the future of midwifery. It is my firm conviction that every woman should be able to birth with whomever and wherever she chooses while being fully supported in a protective cocoon of love, honor, and respect.”
