Alicia is a client of Salt Lake Prenatal Massage , who has two beautiful boys. She’s also a yoga instructor, so we just knew she would be the perfect person to guide our pregnant mamas through a healthy and peaceful pregnancy!

Yoga during pregnancy can help you relax, have better posture, breathe easier, relieve pain, increase flexibility, lower stress hormone levels, and sleep better. It’s also a fun way to meet other moms who are expecting just like YOU and benefit from the comraderie and friendship that comes from gathering regularly. Some women say that yoga is kind of like an inexpensive massage that you can give yourself through stretching, breathing, and gentle movement. You will feel so much better as you take care of yourself and focus inward during your pregnancy.

I supported a client in labor and birth yesterday at an area hospital. After all, I’m a doula, it’s my job, and my priviledge!

I’m also a Maternity Massage Therapist. So, I use my hands, and I also use natural medicine, to bring comfort, focus, and pain relief to my clients.

I learned about essential oils in massage school in 1995, and about three years ago I was introduced to the doTERRA brand. I place a drop of Peppermint and a drop of Wild Orange on the nurse’s  hands and tell her to rub her hands together. I tell her to cup her hands over her mouth and nose and inhale deeply. She does, and her eyes fly wide open and she says, WOW. That is awesome.

I place the same drops on the Dad’s hands. Same reaction. He perks up, has energy, has a little more endurance for the labor ahead.
