Did you know that babies can communicate long before they learn to speak?

Learning just a few signs can:

  • enable baby to communicate thoughts, needs and observations
  • encourages earlier speaking and reading (no, signing does NOT delay speech!)
  • take the guesswork out of communication and reduces frustration
  • helps promote multi-sensory learning and boosts brain development

Baby Signing Time classes are FUN and informative! No, you do not have to be fluent in ASL to access the benefits of signing with your baby. You’ll learn how to start signing with your child right away as you explore the magic of American Sign Language through the Baby Signing Time curriculum and DVD series.

Baby Signing Time Classes at Salt Lake Prenatal Massage are offered in a series of four classes. Join us for any or all of them! You’ll learn something new and make new friends, too.

Babies, parents (or grandparents) welcome, of course! Age 0-36 months. (We suggest starting to introduce signs when baby is 4-6 months.)

$30 per each 90 min class (if taking only one class, or only one at a time) or $75 for all four prepaid. Each family gets one FREE Baby Signing Time DVD! (unless Rebecca has already given you one!) Preregistration required due to limited class size. Classes do not need to be taken in any particular order.

All Four Baby Signing Time DVDs are available for purchase ($21 each) as well but are not required for the class, although highly recommended!

Class 1: Signing Basics, plus signs for food, play, and potty time.

Class 2: Signing Basics, plus signs for family members.

Class 3: Signing Basics, plus signs for things outside.

Class 4: Signing Basics, plus signs for Bugs and Pets.

Rebecca de Azevedo Overson is the owner and director of Salt Lake Prenatal Massage, but she is also a certified Baby Signing Time Instructor through the Signing Time Academy. Rebecca knows firsthand the benefits of signing with pre-verbal infants: both her children started communicating with basic American Sign Language at 6 months old. Her neice, Leah, was born profoundly deaf, and Rebecca is the sister of the co-creators of Signing Time and Baby Signing Time (Rachel de Azevedo Coleman and Emilie de Azevedo Brown). Before opening Salt Lake Prenatal Massage, Rebecca was the general manager of her sisters’ production company, Two Little Hands Productions (creators of Signing Time), for several years. Her son Shawn is featured on the cover of Baby Signing Time DVD Volume 3. Rebecca actually helped write and produce the Baby Signing Time curriculum and the Signing Time Classroom Edition, and LOVES to share sign language with all parents. It’s a true lifesaver and brain-booster. The results will astound you!
